Litoral Sul
Pink cliffs, dolphins at dawn and the best sunsets in RN — from Tibau do Sul to Baía Formosa.
About this region
The southern coast begins at Cotovelo, on the Natal border, and stretches 100 km to the Paraíba state line. It is the coast of pink cliffs, sheltered dolphin bays and the state's largest international traveller community, concentrated in Pipa, Tibau do Sul, Sibaúma and Barra do Cunhaú.
The pace here is slower than in the north, but the SE trade wind blows steadily from August through January — enough to sustain a mature kitesurf scene at Barra do Cunhaú and Sibaúma. The RPPN Mata Estrela in Baía Formosa protects one of the last continuous fragments of Atlantic forest in the Northeast, with the iconic tannic-water Lagoa Coca-Cola.
