Natal e Metropolitana
The state capital, the 1598 fort, living dunes and a direct flight from Lisbon.
About this region
Natal is the Brazilian capital closest to Europe. Founded in 1598 with the construction of the Reis Magos Fort, it is the only Northeastern airport with a direct TAP flight from Lisbon, saving a full day of travel for European visitors. The metropolitan area includes Ponta Negra (with the iconic Morro do Careca dune), the Parque das Dunas — the largest urban Atlantic-forest area in the state — and Genipabu, where the living dunes shift with each season.
It is the most comfortable base for digital nomads (14 catalogued coworkings, reliable fibre) and the gateway to every other region: 25 minutes to Genipabu, 1h30 to Pipa, 2h to Gostoso.
