Lagoa Grande

A freshwater lagoon tucked into the dune belt west of Gostoso, in the chain of seasonal pools that fill during the rainy season. The trade wind hits it cleanly, depth is knee- to waist-high across most of the basin, and there is no current. Gostoso kite schools use the lagoon for day-one lessons — access is via the school you book with; there is no signed public entry. Morning is the better session: steadier wind, warmer water; the strong afternoon session moves back to the beach.
