Tourinhos (São Miguel do Gostoso)

A 12 km drive east of Gostoso, Tourinhos is the petrified-dune coast — sandstone cliffs sculpted by 10,000 years of trade wind, an offshore reef that throws water-jet 'geysers' at the rising tide, and a sunset orientation that has made it the region's most-photographed beach. The kite session is intermediate because of shorebreak and reef rock, but no surf-school crowd — this is a small-group destination, usually accessed by buggy day trip from Gostoso.
